Video Marketing is King!

Last week Facebook announced they are changing their algorithms (again!) and will be showing more posts from friends and family on peoples newsfeeds and less from businesses and other publishers. Cue more groans from small businesses who have already seen their reach restricted significantly.

These businesses need to find a way round this, we already know that social media is a machine that just can’t be ignored in terms of what it has to offer on the marketing front, so how can we still make it work for us when so much seems against us? buzzsumo.com has data that shows a significant fall in the average shares of Facebook posts that contain links, however what this same data also shows is that video content is receiving a significantly higher number of shares, bucking the trend totally.

So why use video?

1.  People engage emotionally with it. Whether that is due to the music, the imagery, the person speaking, or anything else; people engage emotionally with video far quicker than they do with a piece of text or an image.

2.  You can share a lot of information quickly. We are living in an age where time is limited. animoto.com state that 4 times as many consumers would rather watch a video about a product than read about it. It’s worth pointing out here that videos shouldn’t be too long. Under 1 minute ideally.

3.  Consumers trust videos. In fact it’s been reported that a whopping 44% of consumers “strongly agree” they purchase more products after viewing videos!*

Where can I use my video?

Where can’t you? The most obvious choice is to have it on your website but as discussed above they are a great tool for social media, so share them on there but don’t forget YouTube, apparently more than 500 million hours of video are watched on YouTube daily.** Say what?!

Videos give your company credibility. They enable you to get a message out there quickly and succinctly without having to speak to every potential customer individually. Syndacast.com report that 52% of marketing professionals worldwide named video as the type of content with the best return on investment.

With platforms like Facebook Live available you can produce video for no outlay at all. However, if you want to achieve something more tailored or maybe include animation then companies like us can help you out! Take a look at some of the videos we’ve already produced for inspiration!
